22 Apr We Are Whom We Talk To
My sister has not been well lately. She called yesterday having just learned that something else might be wrong with her health.
After a tearful conversation she suddenly asked, “Who do you talk to?”
I told her, “Usually I find a good mirror and talk to this startlingly old guy who is there. He’s never much help.” That finally got her to laugh. My family’s sense of humor is a bit off.
It’s an interesting question though.
I am fortunate to have family, lifelong friends, business associates and co-workers with whom I can talk. When I am at my best, I talk with several customers every day. I always learn more from them than they learn from me.
Our confidants define us. So if you want to know why you are where you are today and who you have become, think about the people you talk to.
It can be an eye-opening experience.
