31 Oct Is your brand human or a zombie?
On a day where dressing as a zombie or vampire is completely normal, I want to ask the question: is your brand an authentic “human” on social media or is it a disguise?
How to check if you are human as a brand:
I can never stress this enough – engaging with your audience is the best thing you can do to be an authentic brand. It shows there is a person behind the name who cares that you care to interact with them. I am not talking about the automatic response messages you setup, but a personal message back.
You admit when you make mistakes
For many brands, this can be hard to do. Often they even spin it so it looks like commenter made the mistake and not them. This is not the way to handle the situation.
The best thing to do when someone points out you made a mistake, whether it’s a spelling error or something you said, is to admit it, apologize and thank them for letting you know. This is how you (should) deal with your problems in real life, so you shouldn’t change your behavior just because you’re a business. Brands should have manners, too.
Share content you think your followers will care about. Promoting your products and sales is, of course, part of your job, but also include articles in your industry and fun gifs in your promotions to make them more entertaining. Show your value by giving followers tools and tips in e-books, blogs, etc. They are following you for a reason, so make sure they want to continue following you.
If you answered yes to all three of these, you are probably not a ghost hiding behind a logo so good job!
