24 Sep Holiday Sales Could Jump 4.5%, Deloitte Forecasts
Consulting firm Deloitte has forecasted holiday sales gains of 4 to 4.5 percent from November through January over last season.
Online sales will again make this holiday sales season challenging for Mom and Pop retailers on Main Street, but according to Deloitte vice chairman Alison Paul, “The store is still a core element of holiday shopping.”
She says, “Retailers leading the way this season will be those that effectively bring together their pricing, promotions, merchandise and inventory management across both their physical and digital storefronts.” — All the more reason for local media companies to get behind Small Business Saturday, November 30 this year with content that can be used in print and online.
